Certified massage therapists may use courses as Continuing Education Credits for periodic recertification. The NCBTMB requires recertification every four years. To be recertified a massage therapist must take 50 Continuing Education Units within that time. The therapist must take 25 hours of these from NCBTMB Category A approved Providers, while 25 hours may be taken from Category B Providers. MICC is now a Category B provider and is in the process of applying to be a Category A Provider.
